Take Note of Your Gums Before Deciding on Braces
As you age, you want to look your best and your teeth are a big part of feeling good about yourself. If your teeth are in poor condition you can opt to get braces for cosmetic purposes rather than for health reasons. However, one aspect to consider is gum recession. This occurs in adults in their thirties and forties. This can be part of your decision making process to have braces placed in your mouth while your gums are receding. Many dentists will advise against braces if your gums are not in good order. Your teeth may not be receptive to the braces if your gums are in recession mode. This can also bother you more if you decide to go with braces. The roots may become exposed and cause all kinds of pain in your mouth while forcing the braces to be removed due to the increasing pain. This will increase the cost of braces due to the second procedure needed.
